Naga Panchami is a day of traditional worship of Nagas or snakes observed by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists throughout India, Nepal, and other countries where Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist adherents live. The worship is offered on the fifth day of bright half of lunar month of Shravana, according to the Hindu calendar.

नाग पंचमी के दिन स्त्रियां नाग देवता की पूजा करती हैं और सांपों को दूध पिलाया जाता है. इस साल नाग पंचमी का त्योहार 2 अगस्त 2022 को मनाया जाएगा. नाग देवताओं की पूजा के लिए श्रावण मास की पंचमी तिथि काफी महत्वपूर्ण मानी जाती है. सनातन धर्म में सर्प को पूजनीय माना गया है. भगवान श्री हरि विष्णु भी शेषनाग पर ही विराजमान हैं.

नाग पंचमी पर लगता है भव्य मेला

बड़ी भगवती मंदिर के पुजारी राधाकांत झा के मुताबिक हर साल सावन महीने में नागपंचमी के दिन यहां भव्य मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है। उस दिन बकरे की बलि दी जाती है। कई परिवार अपने बच्चों का मुंडन करवाने यहां आते हैं। इस साल भी दो अगस्त को यहां मेले का आयोजन होगा। इसकी तैयारियां शुरू कर दी गई हैं।

What happens in Nag Panchami?

On day of Naga Panchami, Nagas, cobras, and snakes are worshipped with milk, sweets, flowers, lamps, and even sacrifices. Naga or serpent deities made of silver, stone, wood, or paintings on the wall are first bathed with water and milk and then worshipped with the reciting of the following mantras.

Is Nag Panchami a good day?

Hindus believe that worshiping Lord Shiva along with Nag Devta eases all hardships in life. The Panchami Tithi (fifth day), Shukla Paksha during Shravan month is considered auspicious and holy to worship Nag Devta, according to the Hindu traditional calendar.
