Priority Sectors for Inviting Proposals for Funding from Additional Reef Fund in the field of Animal Science for 2018-19

The Animal Science Division of the ICAR coordinates and monitors the research activities in its 19 research institutes and their regional centres/stations. The Division has 2 Deemed Universities, 8 National/Central Research Institutes, 1 Bureau, 1 Directorate, 1 Project Directorate and 6 National Research Centres. The Division coordinates 7 All India Coordinated Research Projects and 6 Network Research Programmes. In addition, 4 outreach programs and 3 mega seed projects (Poultry, Sheep and Pig) are also being conducted in various ICAR Institutes, State Agricultural/Veterinary Universities/State Animal Husbandry Departments and NGOs in different parts of the country.

Research farms for cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig, camel, horse, yak, mithun and poultry are present in species specific institutions spread across the country.


State-of-the-art laboratories have been established in the institutes to conduct basic and strategic research in state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of animal genetics and breeding, nutrition, physiology and reproduction, animal health and animal product technology.
